USS PC-598
USS ''PC-598'' was a 173' metal hulled that saw duty in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. It was converted to an amphibious landing control vessel during the war and reclassified a Patrol Craft - Control or PCC. It participated in six amphibious invasions as a control vessel. == Commissioning == ''PC-598'' was commissioned in Portland, Oregon on 5 March 1943, Lieutenant Benjamin V. Harrison, Jr. commanding. With her new crew of "plank owners" she left the Commercial Iron Works pier on the Willamette River on 13 March for Astoria and then Seattle, Washington arriving on 15 March. In Seattle, she took on provisions and munitions, and the crew received additional anti-aircraft gunnery training.
